Privacy Policy
What we collect when you use Magnova AI App Builder, why, who helps us process it, and what you can do about it. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we are
Magnova Pty Ltd ("we"), an Australian company, runs Magnova AI App Builder ("Magnova AI"). We handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Act 1988. Privacy contact: privacy@magnified.news.
What we collect
- Account: a random device identifier created when you first open the app, and the plan and credit balance linked to it.
- Sign-in with an email address: you need an account to use Magnova AI. If you make it with an email address, we keep the address, the name you give us and your date of birth. We use the address to create and secure your account and to email you sign-in codes, the name to show who is signed in, and the date of birth to keep out people under 13. We keep them until you delete your account, and delete them with it. If you ask for a code and do not make an account, we delete the address within an hour. There is no password: you sign in with a code we email you, which we keep only hashed and which stops working after ten minutes.
- Sign-in with Apple or Google: if you sign in this way instead (it also lets your apps follow you to a new phone), we keep that account's identifier and the email address and name it shares with us, and for Apple a token that lets us end the connection to your Apple account when you delete your Magnova AI account. We never see your Apple or Google password.
- Limits on abuse: to stop someone asking for thousands of sign-in codes or creating thousands of accounts, we use the IP address each request comes from, and the email address a code is asked for. We hold the IP address as it is only for a short time: for a minute in the server's memory, and for at most a quarter of an hour while the sign-in check is being answered. After that we keep only a hash of it, for up to about a day, with a count of recent attempts, and the same goes for the email address a code was asked for. The count that limits the free credit is only a hash, held in the server's memory until the end of the day (UTC).
- Your projects: the descriptions you type, the conversation with Magnova AI, and the source code of the apps built for you, including versions you create.
- Usage: token counts and costs for each AI request, so credits are charged correctly.
- Crash reports from your apps: when an app you built crashes, the error message and stack trace are sent to your project so Magnova AI can fix it.
- Notifications: if you allow them, a push token so we can tell you when a build finishes.
- Purchases: handled by Apple or Google and RevenueCat; we receive your plan status, not your payment details.
- In a browser: your session and device identifier are kept in your browser's local storage. See cookies and storage.
- Technical logs: like any service, ours keeps short-lived logs of requests (the time, what was asked for, the result and the IP address) to run the service, find faults and stop abuse, for as long as that needs.
How we use it
To create and secure your account, email you sign-in codes, check that you are old enough, build and run your apps, charge credits, show your history, send notifications you asked for, keep the service secure and fix problems. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other sites or apps.
Who processes it
- Anthropic: your messages and project files are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate and change apps, and to power AI features inside apps you build.
- Apple, Google and RevenueCat: sign-in, if you choose it (they tell us who you are, and learn that you signed in to Magnova AI), and purchases and subscription status.
- Resend: delivers the emails that carry your sign-in codes, so it receives your email address and the code in each message.
- Expo: delivery of push notifications.
- Our hosting provider: where the server and database run.
We do not sell your data. These companies handle it only to provide their part of the service. They are in other countries than Australia, including the United States, whose privacy laws may differ from Australia's. We take reasonable steps to make sure your information is handled in line with this policy.
Your apps and their data
Data created by apps you build (for example a to-do list) is stored on your device, inside Magnova AI, and is not sent to our servers unless the app itself calls the AI feature.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
You can delete any project from the app, which removes its files, history and conversation. You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings, which removes your email address, name and date of birth with everything else, and also ends the connection between Magnova AI and your Apple account if you signed in with Apple. Copies in our backups are removed when those backups expire and are replaced. We keep one thing for good after an account is deleted: a hashed record that this Apple account, Google account or email mailbox has already signed up for the free credit, so it cannot be claimed twice. It holds no name or email address. The hashes kept for the limits on abuse (above) expire by themselves within about a day, deletion or not.
Your choices and rights
You can see your account details in Settings and delete your account there. Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and other laws that apply to you, you can also:
- Ask for access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your personal information, unless the law or a legitimate need requires us to keep some of it.
- Ask for a copy of your data in a form you can take with you.
- Object to some uses of it, and withdraw consent where we rely on it.
- Make a complaint. Write to us first and we will answer promptly. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au), or to the data protection authority where you live.
To use any of these, write to privacy@magnified.news.
Security
Connections are encrypted. There are no passwords to steal: sign-in codes are kept only as hashes, and each works once and expires. No service is perfectly secure, so please use a mailbox and an Apple or Google account that only you can open.
Children
You must be at least 13 to have a Magnova AI account, and nobody younger may have one. When you create an account with an email address we ask for your date of birth, and we do not create the account if you are under 13. Magnova AI is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change, and the date at the top will say when. If a change matters to your data we will tell you in the app or by email.
